My inner child dreaming of a Christmas that lasts forever was beyond excited to be landing in Prague on December 1st. I dragged Brian with me to the mecca of Christmas markets so I could have all the hot cider and Christmas treats I could fit (wearing my best mom jeans for ideal space).

After dropping our things off at our airbnb in Vinohandry, we hopped onto the metro to Old Town Square.

*If America could adopt one thing from the Europeans, it should be their public transportation systems. Trains, trams, subways are all easily accessible in Prague.

The Old Town square at night was covered head to toe in Christmas lights and decorations. Every inch of the square had been filled with the spirit of Christmas along with a million toursits, still magical IMO. We wandered around and made our way to U Pinkasu. An old tavern where they served the first Pilsner in Prague. While I’m not a big fan of beer, Brian was in his element, slugging 3 beers to my 1. The city is loaded with bars and pubs on every corner for you to get a pint.

We spent the night bar hopping throughout the Old Town. One of my favorite parts of Prague was the willingness to create a cocktail to suit our needs. I personally loved the cocktails and mood lighting at Anonymous Bar.

The next day began with me asking Brian 100 times if he knew where we were going, clearly I have trust issues. We made our way to the Monastery to find the Strahov library which subjectively claims to be the most beautiful library in the world. I agreed and so does my camera roll. The Monastery sits on top of a hill overlooking the Prague castle. To me, it’s the most beautiful sight to see in Prague.

We hiked down and toured the castle grounds. Every corner is filled with gothic and romanesque architecture. After walking through the grounds, we warmed up with some hot cider and a Trendlik. These sugary cones are not traditionally Czech, but they’re so good, the Czech should really consider claiming it.

The remainder of the trip was spent getting lost in random alleyways and warming up at pubs in between. I highly suggest finding your way to a park for a panoramic view of the city. While Prague has a million sights to see and choose from, it’s just as fun roaming around this winter wonderland.
